The best drop ever

Since Valentine's Day 1990, Klepper Sr. has had a candy stall at the Alkmaar market. Over the years, he's learned exactly what his customers (a typical Dutch person, after all) like. So, when Klepper Sr. celebrated his 25th anniversary at the market in 2015, he decided to surprise his customers with an anniversary licorice candy. To give away for free. Klepper Sr. remembered a licorice candy that wasn't quite right because it was too wet. But people kept asking for it. With that recipe, Klepper & Klepper ran with it. To make the licorice drier, they removed the gluten and gelatin. After a few weeks of experimenting, they were satisfied: the anniversary licorice candy was born.

Because this licorice was a) considered by many to be the tastiest licorice ever, and b) gluten-free and gelatin-free, Klepper & Klepper decided to call it The Best Licorice Ever. Slowly but surely, The Best Sweet Licorice Ever became available in upscale specialty stores throughout the Netherlands.

Two years later, Klepper & Klepper developed the Best Mildly Salty Licorice Ever. A year later , The Best Honey Licorice Ever was also born. Made with real honey from the Biesbosch National Park. At the end of 2020, Klepper & Klepper developed The Best Laurel Licorice Ever . Made with drops of pure laurel oil.

The licorice comes in biodegradable packaging. The company also sources local products and supports small businesses in the Netherlands to minimize their ecological footprint.
